Martin R. Huberty Papers, ca. 1925-1960

Martin R. Huberty (1894-1960) joined the staff of the Irrigation Division, College of Agriculture, Davis and Berkeley (1921), transferred to Riverside (1936), and to Los Angeles (1939) where held various positions including professor of irrigation engineering, chairman of the Department of irrigation and soil science, and acting dean of agriculture. He also served as director of the University of California's system-wide Water Resources Center (1957-60), helped establish the Water Resources Archives on the Berkeley campus, served in Rome as Senior Irrigation and Drainage Officer for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN, and was a consultant to the UC Bureau of Reclamation, the Federal Emergency Relief Administration, the U.S. Geological Survey, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, and the Federal Interagency Advisory Committee on Soils, Water and Fertilizer Research. The collection consists of teaching, research and committee materials, publications by Huberty and others, correspondence, notes, and photographs.
